Puppy Preschool

This is a similar course to our puppy playgroup but is the preferred option for slightly older puppies. It is designed to be fun, while helping to nurture the bond with your puppy and giving you a chance to build your dog’s self confidence and obedience in a safe environment. We will cover various aspects of socialisation and show you how to introduce everyday commands and leadwork in a kind and effective manner. You will discover the secrets to calm, confident and happy puppies. This is a 5 weeks course taking place on the Monday at 10am.Puppy

Who is it for?
This class is suitable for puppies of any breed or background. Training and socialisation should start as soon as you get your puppy. But if for any reason you did not get your puppy around 8 to 10 weeks of age or did not enrol them in a class straight away, then the preschool is for you. If you have a very young puppy, you may prefer joining the puppy playgroup. The content of both courses is similar, but we encourage people with younger puppies to join the playgroup for better social interactions.

What happens at the class?
We will alternate formal training exercises, chat about topics such as the use of food reward in training, and play and socialisation sessions. Your puppy will learn valuable life skills from coping with a crying baby to learning to enjoy being groomed.
Each class lasts one hour. The last 15 minutes are informal. The owners can have a cup of tea and ask questions while the puppies have a rest or play together under supervision.
During this class, you will learn how to teach your puppy controlled greeting, sitting and lying down on command, but also how to introduce leadwork and recall, how to stop or prevent your puppy from jumping up, biting when playing and more.
We use treats, toys and affection in training so that the class is enjoyable for your puppy. They can learn how to behave and fit in your life while having a good time. The hardest part is always teaching your puppy not to pull you from the car to the hall as they all love the class so much!

How much does it cost?
It is £50 for the whole course. Tea and coffee is provided at no extra charge.

Do  I need to book?
Yes, only puppies registered for the course will be accepted. We keep the group small so that everybody can receive the attention they deserve and the experience is not overwhelming for the puppies.
